Next Level Racing F-GT Elite 160 Ferrari Edition: Build & First Impressions
If you're a Ferrari fan or just looking for a high-end, rock-solid sim rig, the Next Level Racing F-GT Elite 160 Ferrari Edition might catch your eye. This is NLR’s flagship cockpit, built from 160mm aluminum profile and designed for adjustability, strength, and style. But at $1,200 for the rig alone (and $499 for the matching Ferrari seat), does the premium price match the performance? Let’s find out.
In this review, I’ll walk through the build process, highlight its standout features, and share my first impressions after assembling it. I will also score it across four categories:
- Build & Design Quality
- Adjustability & Features
- Installation Experience
- Overall Value

Unboxing the F-GT Elite 160 Ferrari Edition
The box that everything comes in is well-made, all the parts have their own specifically-molded section in the Styrofoam so that nothing moves around. There is a chance that you'll get some bits of foam everywhere though, as it may break during shipping. Not a big deal though. After a quick vacuum and cleanup, I am ready to build this rig!
Build & Design Quality: Premium Finish with Ferrari Flair
This thing is a beast—both in looks and construction. The Ferrari branding includes a logo plate at the front of the bottom frame, red accents on the upright aluminum pieces, and carbon-fiber-style brackets and pedal plates. It’s clean, aggressive, and screams performance. The aluminum profile is 160mm thick and everything fits together with tight tolerances.
The seat—exclusive to the Ferrari Edition—is snug, comfortable, and features a suede-like finish. It’s padded enough for long sessions, and the shape supports both GT and Formula seating positions. The included red racing harness is a slick visual touch. The exterior of it is made of plastic. Definitely more of a low-quality finish than I'd like to see on a nearly $500 seat, unfortunately.
- Heavy-duty 160mm aluminum profile for max rigidity
- Suede-style Ferrari-branded seat with decent padding
- Carbon-style bracket details (aesthetic, not real carbon)
- Very clean finish—minimal branding, all business
It should be noted that the Ferrari-branded seat does not actually come as part of the package for the rig. It's additional (just like any other NLR rig). The seat costs $499 USD - that's $100 more than the exact same seat without the Ferrari logo on it. That's the Ferrari tax for you!
🔧 Build & Design Score: 9/10
Adjustability & Features: Built for GT and Formula Flex
This rig is one of the most adjustable aluminum cockpits I’ve used. You can switch from GT to Formula-style seating by repositioning the seat, pedals, and wheel base mount. The slots and side engravings help you align everything with precision, and you won’t need to remeasure both sides manually.
It's not as fast or as easy as, say, the Next Level Racing F-GT Pro, however. You’ll need to unscrew four knobs to slide the seat. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s not as quick as a lever-based slider. The pedal deck can be adjusted for angle and height, which is a must when switching driving styles.
One of the most useful parts of the F-GT Elite 160 that I wish all sim racing chassis manufacturers would also implement is that they provide level guides/marks on the sides (photo above) of the aluminum (both on the uprights and the bottom frame). That's so that, when you adjust things, you will always be 100% aligned on both sides.
- Support for GT and Formula seating in a single rig
- Dual position adjustments for both pedal and seat setup
- Precision alignment guides built into the frame
- No quick seat adjustment slider – uses threaded knobs
🧠 Adjustability & Features Score: 8.5/10
Installation Experience: One of the Smoothest Builds Yet
This was one of the easiest and most satisfying cockpit builds I’ve done. Everything was labeled, the T-nuts stayed in place (unlike cheaper rigs), and even the end caps allow for T-nut adjustments after install. Clear instructions, minimal part count, and a tool kit that includes a level. That's super handy!

Out of all the aluminum profile rigs I've built so far, this one was the fastest. Maybe it's just because I'm getting better at it?
- Includes tools, labeled hardware, and leveling guide
- All parts fit perfectly—tight, high-tolerance build
- Build time ~3 hours solo, no hiccups
- Hefty shipping weight—unpack before moving
🧤 Install & Build Experience Score: 9.5/10
Value: Is the Ferrari Edition Worth It?
The Elite 160 Ferrari Edition costs $1,199 USD for the rig and $499 for the seat—about $300 more than the non-Ferrari version with a standard seat. So is it worth it? If you’re a Ferrari fan, yes—it looks the part and adds a lot of presence to your space. If not, save the money and get the base model.
One other note about pricing: there is a $100 difference between getting the "Wheel Plate edition" and the "Front and Side Mount edition". That's dependent on which sim racing wheelbase you have. Simucube owners, for example, will want to get the front and side mount edition.
Functionally, it’s one of the best 160mm rigs you can get. It’s premium, clean, and built to last.
- $1,199 for cockpit alone ($999 without Ferrari branding)
- $499 Ferrari seat ($100 over standard seat)
- Extremely rigid, stylish, and premium experience
- Versatile enough for GT and Formula positions
💰 Value Score: 8.5/10
Final Verdict: A Premium Rig for Serious Racers
The Next Level Racing Elite 160 Ferrari Edition delivers in quality, adjustability, and looks. If you're building a dream sim setup and want something that’s ultra-sturdy and race-ready, this rig is a solid investment—especially if you're partial to the prancing horse.

If you’re not sold on Ferrari branding or want to save a few bucks, the standard Elite 160 is still an amazing option.
🏆 Final Score: 9/10
